William Ruto's appointment of Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate on Sunday has irreversibly weakened his chances of becoming Kenya's fifth president.

The decision was made following an intricately secretive process characterized by intensive lobbying, anger and name calling that stretched late into Saturday night.
Rigathi Gachagua carries some highly negative factors with him and putting him on the ticket will only serve to galvanize Azimio la Umoja voters.
Gachagua is protégé of former President Daniel Moi and as such, his choice as the running mate will soon rekindle debates about Ruto's autocratic leadership style, which has been labeled as having "Moism tendencies."

Debates will rise on Ruto's evident admiration for leaders with questionable characters and history.
With the general election roughly 85 days away, such dark debates will certainly ensure Ruto's political fortunes sink.
Section of Kenya Kwanza supports also hold similar sentiments, with some taking on social media to highlight the consequential decision made by the Deputy President, William Ruto.
One supporter said Gachagua was a terrible decision arguing he had not seen him demonstrate any measure of vision and deep thought.

Another one felt Gachagua was a terrible choice for the defacto number two role and that Ruto should instead have settled on Kindiki.

Another questioned how anyone would ever consider Gachagua as a running mate asking how low we had fallen democratically.

Another one felt that Ruto made a bad move choosing Gachagua as his deputy.

Things will start to unfold in the coming weeks, and Kenyans will begin to reject this duo to send a clear message to the world that the country has chosen renaissance over decay, pessimism, and damnation.
